Every childhood dream has the power to change a life. For many boys in Ukraine, the sea became that magnet pulling them forward from an early age. The dream of becoming a seafarer was born from travel books, movies about distant lands, and stories told by fathers or grandfathers. It was about the romance of the ocean, ships sailing across world routes, and the feeling of freedom.
But what happens when this dream turns into reality? In a new vlog, Ukrainian seafarers share their personal stories: how they first stepped on board, what life at sea really looks like, and why — despite all the hardships — they still say: “Yes, this is my dream.”
Their words are honest: being a seafarer is not only about travel and exotic destinations. It also means strict discipline, long separations from family, and responsibility for the safety of the crew and cargo. And at the same time — pride in knowing that your work keeps global trade moving and sustains Ukraine’s economy.
This vlog is a true confession from people for whom life at sea has become a calling. There are no scripts or staged moments — only sincere reflections on a choice that makes you stronger.
👉 If you’ve ever dreamed of the sea, or want to understand what the seafarer’s profession looks like from the inside, this video is for you.
